Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 13. März 1968 vom bayerischen Staatsministerium des Innern genehmigt. Die Farben Weiß und Blau stehen für die frühere Landeshoheit der wittelsbachischen Herzöge. Der welfische Greifenlöwe entstammt dem Klosterwappen von Steingaden und weist auf das Dynastengeschlecht hin.
