Object history
Deutsch: Seit dem beginnenden 16. Jahrhundert begegnen Vogt und Gericht von Umkirch bei urkundlich bezeugten Rechtshandlungen. Ein Siegel führte die bis 1805 vorderösterreichische, grundherrliche Gemeinde bis ins 19. Jahrhundert nicht. Nach 1831 entstand das erste Gemeindesiegel, das eine sehr unbeholfen gezeichnete Madonna zeigt. Zweifellos nimmt das Motiv Bezug auf das Marienpatrozinium der Pfarrkirche. 1898 setzte das Generallandesarchiv das verbesserte Siegelbild in einen Wappenschild und legte die Tingierung fest. Die „natürliche" Farbe der Madonna wurde später heraldisch verbessert, die Flagge am 10. April 1984 vom Landratsamt verliehen.
