Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Unterreit wurde 1971 aus den bis dahin selbstständigen Gemeinden Elsbeth, Grünthal und Wang neu gebildet. Das Gemeindewappen enthält Symbole, die auf die territoriale Zusammensetzung verweisen. Das rote Balkenkreuz oben steht für die Georgskirche in Wang, das Andreaskreuz unten für das Patrozinium der Kirche von Grünthal, die dem Andreaskreuz aufgelegte heraldische Rose für die Kirchenpatronin Elisabeth der Wallfahrtskirche in Elsbeth. Die Rose ist zugleich ein Element aus dem Familienwappen der Grafen von Törring (drei Rosen) und erinnert an die historische Rolle der Adelsfamilie als bedeutende Grundherrschaft im Gemeindegebiet. In der Kirche von Wang sind Wappensteine der Törring erhalten. Der dem Balkenkreuz aufgelegte Pfeil ist als Attribut des Jagdpatrons Sankt Ägidius zu deuten, dem die Grafen von Kling in ihrem Jagdgebiet Unterreit 1318 eine Kirche geweiht haben.
