Object history
Deutsch: Waal wird 890 erstmals erwähnt und erhält 1444 von Kaiser Friedrich III. das Marktrecht. Aus dem späten 18. Jahrhundert stammt ein Siegel mit der Umschrift S. DES. KAISERL. VND GEFREYTEN REICHSGRÄFL. MARKT WAAL. Es zeigt den heiligen Nikolaus auf einer Wolke. Ihm war die ehemalige Pfarrkirche von Waal geweiht. Sie steht im älteren Ortsteil in einem aufgelassenen Friedhof an der Quelle des Flusses Singold. Die Farben sind einer farbigen Abbildung des Siegels in der Wappenmatrikel von 1812 überliefert. Das Ministerium bestätigte 1836 das Recht zur Weiterführung des alten Siegels.
