Object history
Deutsch: Der Dreiberg und der Wellenbalken versinnbildlichen die Lage der Gemeinde im Gebirge und an der Isar. Die Pilgermuschel, Attribut des Apostels Jakobus, verweist auf das Patrozinium der an der Kesselbergstraße gelegenen Kirche von Wallgau; dem heiligen Jakob sind öfter Kirchen geweiht, die an wichtigen alten Fernstraßen liegen. Durch Wallgau führt auch einer der berühmten Jakobswege. Der Abtstab ist aus dem Wappen des Benediktinerklosters Benediktbeuern übernommen und erinnert an die grundherrschaftlichen Rechte des Klosters im Gemeindegebiet, die 1491 zum Teil an das Hochstift Freising übergingen. Der Flößerhaken versinnbildlicht das früher auf der Isar intensiv betriebene Flößereigewerbe. Die Tingierung in Rot und Gold nimmt die Farben des Hochstifts Freising auf, das bis 1803 die Landeshoheit über die Grafschaft Werdenfels innehatte.
