Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Westendorf besteht seit 1978 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Dösingen und Westendorf. Beide gehörten seit dem 14. Jahrhundert zu der Herrschaft Kemnat. Die Herren von Benzenau wurden 1480 mit Kemnat belehnt. Daran erinnert ihr Wappen in Gold ein mit drei goldenen Ballen belegter schwarzer Schrägbalken. Sie verkauften 1571 ihre Güter und Rechte in Westendorf und Dösingen an die Reichsstadt Kaufbeuren. Auf diese Zugehörigkeit weisen die beiden Sterne aus dem Wappen der Reichsstadt.
