Object history
Deutsch: Willmars besteht seit 1972 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Willmars, Völkershausen und Filke. Willmars ist ehemaliges Königsgut und wird erstmals 811 urkundlich erwähnt. Darauf weist die Krone im Wappen. Darunter steht das Wappen der Grafen von Henneberg. Sie waren die bedeutendsten Grundherren im Ort. Der schwarze Schrägbalken in Silber ist das Wappen der Freiherren von Stein. Eine Linie der Familie ist seit 1378 im Besitz des Schlosses von Völkershausen und nennt sich nach diesem Ort. Carl Freiherr von Stein ließ das Stein`sche Schloss 1723 bis 1731 nach eigenen, von Balthasar Neumann begutachteten Plänen, neu errichten.
