El carrer que pinta l'autor és Alfara de l'Horta (Horta Nord, València, País Valencià), oficialment coneguda com Alfara del Patriarca pel patriarca Sant Joan de Ribera, i també Alfara-Llibertat durant la II República espanyola i els temps de la col·lectivització dels rajolars que li donen nom. Sorprèn que al carrer major, mirant cap a l'església encara es pot observar la mateixa imatge salvant el trascòrrer de dos segles.

La pràctica de la modalitat de llargues, de llarga tradició a les comarques centrals valencianes i del sud (al nord es jugaven modalitats de llargues per damunt de corda, o perxa), encara es present hui dia solament al poble de Rafelbunyol en l'Horta.

Ocasionalment es continuen jugant partides a la modalitat pròpia de la zona (la practicada en el quadre) de "llargues i ratlles". El joc de ratlles i llargues és una sub-modalitat que es considera la més antiga i complexa dintre de les llargues. S'observa en el personatge que inicia el joc (saque), en la part inferior, que inicia el joc damunt d'una banca, un ús poc extés ara com ara però que podem vore als jocs de llargues navarresos que es juguen a valls com Batzan.

Any rere any es disputen en Alfara una partides o trofeu de festes de "llargues i ratlles" al mes d'agost des de fa més de trenta anys a on han concorregut i concorren els millors jugadors del sud i els professionals més renomenats, com ara Genovés.

Tanmateix el Club de Pilota Valenciana d'Alfara ha recuperat el joc pels/les jóvens i poble, manté partides ocasionals amb altres clubs de la comarca per mantenir viu el joc. Fins haver aconseguir participar en la partida de festes mesclant-se amb jugadors professionals o reconeguts amateurs als equips.
