The first lady or first partner of California is the informal title and role held by the hostess of the California Governor's Mansion and usually the wife of the governor of California, during the governor's term in office.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom is the current first partner of California, in role since January 2019, as the wife of Governor Gavin Newsom.[1]

The first lady or partner is not elected by the citizens of California, there are no official jobs she is officially required to perform and she is not paid for being the first spouse, but she is often involved in political campaigns, managements of the Governor's Mansion, and participating in social causes and accompanying the governor at official and ceremonial occasions and events.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom launched major initiatives as first partner such as, Miss Representation, The Representation Project, Advance SEL California, California for ALL Kids, California for ALL Women, and the Equal Pay Pledge.[2][3][4][5][6]
