Gentleman is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language movie directed by S. Shankar in his first movie as a director. The movie stars Arjun Sarja as a man named Kicha, who is a respected businessman by day but secretly becomes a thief at night. He steals money from corrupt rich people to help the poor and build a school for underprivileged students.
The movie also stars Madhubala, Goundamani, Senthil, and Vineeth. The music was composed by A. R. Rahman and became very popular.
The story reveals that Kicha became a thief because of an injustice he faced in his youth. Despite being a good student, he couldn't get into a medical college because of corruption. This made him determined to fight against corruption and help poor students get the education they deserve.
Gentleman was a big success at the box office and was praised for its action scenes, story, and music. It won several awards and made Shankar one of the top directors in Tamil cinema. The movie was also dubbed into Telugu and remade in Hindi and became popular across India.
