George Perles

George J. Perles (July 16, 1934 – January 7, 2020) was an American football player and coach. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was a defensive line coach, defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers from 1972 to 1982. He was also the head football coach at Michigan State University (MSU) from 1983 to 1994. He was added to the MSU Board of Trustees in 2006. He retired from his position on the board in November 2018 due to health reasons and wanting to spend time with family.

On January 7, 2020, Perles died from Parkinson's disease in Lansing, Michigan. He was 85.[1]
