Georges Labazée

Georges Labazée (16 June 1943 – 4 February 2022) was a French politician and educator. Labazée was born in Viven, Pyrénées-Atlantiques department on 16 June 1943. Georges Labazée began his political career during the cantonal elections of 1976, where he was elected general councilor in the canton of Thèze and was reappointed at each election (1982, 1988, 1994, 2001 and 2008).

He became a deputy when André Labarrère entered the first Mauroy government as Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of relations with Parliament, following the 1981 presidential election and the pink wave.

During the cantonal elections of 2011, the general council of Pyrénées-Atlantiques moved to the left and on March 31, 2011, Georges Labazée became its president.

He died on the night of February 3 to 4, 2022 at the age of 78.
