Gianni De Michelis

Giovanni "Gianni" De Michelis (26 November 1940 – 11 May 2019) was an Italian politician. He was a member of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI). He notably had many government minister roles during the 1980s and early 1990s. He was the Deputy Prime Minister of Italy from 1988 to 1989, and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1992. He also served as Minister of State Holdings (1980–1983) and Minister of Labour and Social Policies (1983–1987). He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies (1976–1994) and the European Parliament (2004–2009). He was born in Venice.

De Michelis died in Venice on 11 May 2019, at the age of 78.[1]
