Gilbert Lazard

Gilbert Lazard ((1920-02-04)4 February 1920 – (2018-09-06)6 September 2018) was a French linguist and iranologist. He was born in Paris. His works include the study of many Iranian languages, translations of classical Persian poetry, and research on linguistic typology. His works were mainly on morphosyntactic alignment. He also studied the Tahitian language.

On November 14, 1980, he was elected an ordinary member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres.[1]

Lazard died in Paris on 6 September 2018 at the age of 98.[2]
