Performances
[change | change source]In 1993, Jackson performed it at the celebration for Bill Clinton becoming the President of the United States. Jackson's version of "Gone Too Soon" was dedicated to the memory of Jackson's friend Ryan White, a teenager from Kokomo, Indiana who came to national attention, after being expelled from his school for having HIV/AIDS.
In 1997, when Princess Diana died, Jackson let the song be put on an album called Tribute. The album was a collection of songs made to remember her. The money made from the album was given to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
Usher performed the song at Jackson's memorial service in 2009.[1]
