Gordon Edward Pinsent, CC, FRSC (July 12, 1930 – December 4, 2020) was a Canadian actor, screenwriter, director and playwright. He is known for his roles in numerous productions, including Away from Her, The Rowdyman, John and the Missus, A Gift to Last, Due South, The Red Green Show and Quentin Durgens, M.P.[1] He has been the voice of Babar the elephant in television and film from 1989 to early 2015.

Pinsent died on 4 December 2020 while in hospice care in Los Angeles of complications from stage IV pancreatic cancer. He died at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles from the disease on December 4, 2020 at the age of 90.[2][3]
