On October 8, 2020, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that 13 people from the Wolverine Watchman were arrested for attempting to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and overthrow the state government.[1] A fourteenth suspect was arrested a week later.[2] In addition to kidnapping Whitmer, a FBI agent said that the suspects also wanted to kidnap Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.[3]

One of the kidnappers, Barry Croft of Delaware, also discussed South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster as a target, as well as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, then-President Donald Trump, and former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
