The Halabja massacre was a chemical attack on the Kurdish city of Halabja, Iraq on 16 March 1988.[1] An estimated 5000 civilians were killed, and over 10,000 injured. The attack was part of the larger Anfal campaign, an effort to displace and kill Iraqi Kurds on a mass scale.[2] The campaign was carried out by Ali Hassan al-Majid under Saddam Hussein's rule.[3]
