Hammer Smashed Face is the debut single and EP by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It is considered the band's signature song and is often played as the last song at their concerts.
EP and single
[change | change source]Hammer Smashed Face was released as both a single and an EP. The single version contains the title track, plus covers of songs by Possessed and Black Sabbath. The EP version additionally contains two original Cannibal Corpse songs from Eaten Back to Life and Butchered at Birth.
Cover art
[change | change source]The EP and single versions of Hammer Smashed Face have different cover art. The single version shows a close-up of the skull and candles from the cover of Tomb of the Mutilated, whereas the EP version shows a smashed human head with a hammer wedged into it. The EP version is the only Cannibal Corpse album cover not created by Vincent Locke.
