Help talk:Notability

This statement: "A page that claims notability but does not support the claim may not be notable." can perhaps be simplified as "A page that claims notability may not be notable." A claim of notability could actually be a small thing supported by a reliable citation, something that doesn't satisfy Wikipedia notability requirements such as "was nominated to stand for the position of deputy treasurer of the ...[city] chapter of the African Violet Society in ... We'd all welcome improved and simple language. Do understand, though: the reason we need some language about "mere" claims and some about support for claims is that the claim itself is the criterion for judging QD decisions, while the support for the claim is the criterion for the ultimate keep/delete decision at an RfD.
