Herøy is a municipality in Norway's Møre og Romsdal county. It is in the Sunnmøre area of the county.[1] (Another municipality has the same name, in Nordland county.)

8,842 people live there (as of 2023).

In 1972, the shipwreck of the Akerendam, was found off the cliffs of Runde (a place in Herøy). The ship sank in 1725. It was owned by the Dutch East India Company (VOC). 'The Runde treasure' or Runde-skatten was found in the shipwreck.
