Herman Boone

Herman Ike Boone (October 28, 1935 – December 18, 2019) was an American high school football coach.

In 1971, he coached the T. C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia to a successful season. The team went 13–0 during the season, achieved the state championship and were the national championship runners-up. The 2000 movie Remember the Titans is loosely based off the school's 1971 football season. Boone was played by Denzel Washington in the movie.[1]

Boone was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was married to Carol Boone and had three daughters. Boone died on December 18, 2019 in Alexandria, Virginia at the age of 84.[2] The cause was lung cancer.[3]
