Hirvensalmi is a municipality in Southern Savonia, Finland. As of January 2014, almost 2,350 people lived there. Neighbouring municipalities are Joutsa, Kangasniemi, Mikkeli, Mäntyharju and Pertunmaa.

The municipality was established in 1656.
