Hot Space is the tenth studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released by EMI Records in the United Kingdom and by Elektra Records in the United States.[8] This was on 4 May 1982. The album is the band's most synthesizer-heavy. It expands on the funk, disco, new wave and R&B elements of The Game. This was mainly due to the success of their 1980 single "Another One Bites the Dust" in the US.[1] However, disco's reputation had declined by 1982. This made the album less popular with fans. They preferred the hard rock style they had come to associate with the band.

"Under Pressure" was Queen's collaboration with David Bowie. The single was released in 1981. It became the band's second number one hit in the UK.[9] The song was a separate project from before Hot Space. However, it was included on the album. The second single was "Body Language". It peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
