The Hyundai Trajet was a MPV made by Hyundai from 1999 to 2008.
History and Features
[change | change source]The Hyundai Trajet was developed as a seven-seater MPV, and its main goal was to be able to fit large famillies and shuttle market segments. The Trajet name is the French meaning of journey, path walk, etc.[3] The MPV shared its platform with the Sonata, Grandeur and Santa Fe.[4] It was debuted at the London Motor Show in the United Kingdom in 1999.[5] It had 2.0 and 2.7 V6 petrol engines with a petrol/LPG version, a 2.0 diesel engine with a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 4-speed automatic transmission, which was facelifted in 2004.[6]
Markets
[change | change source]The Hyundai Trajet was sold mainly in Europe and Australia, and in South Korea, it was sold as the Hyundai Trajet XG, since it shared its platform with the Hyundai Grandeur XG.[7] [8] In the Netherlands, the MPV was sold as the Hyundai Highway Van.
Discontinuation
[change | change source]The production of the Hyundai Trajet ended in 2008 without a sucessor.[9] Instead of developing a new sucessor as a replacement, Hyundai decided to adapt a new existent line to its existing models.[10]
