The Original iPhone was the first phone made by Apple, Inc. It was announced in January 9, 2007, and released in June 29, 2007.[1] It changed the mobile phone industry, being the first phone to include a capacitive Multi-touch display. It succeeded the Newton line of touch screen phones by Apple Computer, Inc.

Compared to other phones at the time, the iPhone had a much larger screen and removed most of the buttons, leaving only a home button to take you to the home screen.[source?]
3G version[change | change source]
On June 9, 2008, Apple announced a version of the iPhone which featured slightly improved hardware, GPS, and 3G functionality.[2]
