Ian Shearer

Ian John Shearer (10 December 1941 – 1 June 2021) was a New Zealand politician. He was a member of the National Party. Shearer was born in Whakatāne, New Zealand. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1975 until 1984. From 1981 until 1984, Shearer was the Minister for the Environment, Science and Technology and Broadcasting.

Shearer died on 1 June 2021 from problems caused by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis at his home in Whakatāne, aged 79.[1][2]
