From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, one athlete from India, Norman Pritchard, made the nation's debut in the modern Olympic Games. Although historically recorded as competing for Great Britain, Pritchard is now recognized by the IOC as representing India. He participated in athletics, winning silver in two events. In 2005, the IAAF officially recognized his achievements. India ranked 19th at the end of the games, marking the first Asian country to participate in the Olympics and win medals.
