Institut für Sexualwissenschaft

The Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (Institute for Sexual Science) was an early sexology research institute in Germany, operating from 1913 to 1933. It was founded by Magnus Hirschfeld, a Jewish homosexual physician, and was the first sexology research center in the world.^[1] The institute conducted pioneering studies on homosexuality and transgender issues and housed an extensive library on sexuality and eroticism. In 1933, the Nazis destroyed the institute as part of their censorship campaign and persecution of Jews.
