Ipswich is a large city in Queensland, Australia. It is about 40 minutes drive west of the state capital, Brisbane. It has a population of about 155,000 people. Ipswich is the oldest provincial city it Queensland, and has more than 6000 heritage listed houses, shops, public buildings and historic sites. It is also the site of the Amberley Air Base, the Royal Australian Air Force's largest operating base.
