Islam in North Macedonia

Islam is the second largest religion by population of North Macedonia, after Orthodox Christianity. In 2017, Muslims carried 37% to 47% of the total 2017 Macedonian population.

Muslims in Macedonia are mostly descended from Albanian immigrants, and a small Turk, Bosnian immigrants and Macedonian convert to Islam. Most of them are Sunni Islam of Hanafi madhhab.
