Jafar Umar Thalib (audio speaker iconpronunciation ; Arabic: جَعْفَر عُمَر طَالِب; Arabic pronunciation: [dʒaʕfar ʕumar tˤaːlib]; December 29, 1961 – August 25, 2019)[1] was an Indonesian Muslim figure. He was the founder and the head of Laskar Jihad, an Islamic organization in Indonesia.

Thalib died of a heart attack in Jakarta on August 25, 2019 at the age of 57.[2]
