Biogrpahy[change | change source]

Jalving was born in Klijndijk in 1923 as the daughter of an agricultural worker. She grew up in a family of six children. From an early age she was engaged in drawing and painting. After primary school she couldn't to secondary education because her partens could't pay it. When she was sixteen years old she made her first painting. She started taking drawing courses at the age of nineteen.[3]

Jalving mainly painted landscapes and farms. For a while she took drawing lessons with De Ploeg painter Ties Allersma in Emmen and later at the Rijks Hogere Burgerschool in Assen.[3] She also made paintings for exhibitions and expositions. She remained active as a painter until old age. She lived in Exloo.

Jalving died in Exloo on 6 January 2022, at the age of 98.[1][2] A large part of her works has been donated to the Museum Collectie Brands in Nieuw-Dordrecht and the Ellert en Brammert in Schoonoord.[4]
