Johann-Werner Prein ([ˈjoːhanˌvɛʁnɐ pʁaɪ̯n]; born 3 January 1954)[1] is an Austrian operatic singer. He has made an international career by performing at major opera houses and festivals based in Germany. He performed roles for baritones (Wagner's Sachs in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and bass (Mozart's Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte}. In recordings, he has focused on operas of the early 20th century. Examples include Busoni's Turandot and Schulhoff's Flammen.
