Julia Creek is a small town in northwest Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Shire of McKinlay and is located on the Flinders Highway, between the towns of Cloncurry and Richmond.[1][2] Julia Creek is about 650 kilometres (400 miles) west of Townsville.

The town was named after Julia Creek, a local waterway, which itself was named by explorer John McKinlay in the 1860s. The town grew in the early 1900s when the Great Northern railway was extended to the area. It became a service centre for the cattle and sheep industries.
