A karate gi is a standardized piece of karate clothing that acts as a uniform.[1] Whether or not a student is ranked, one must bring a gi to the academy.

A karate gi includes a martial arts jacket, as well as a martial arts pant.[2]

The gi is white. The belt can be:

  1. White
  2. Yellow
  3. Purple
  4. Orange
  5. Green
  6. Blue
  7. Brown
  8. Black (sub-divided by dan)
