Gaylord Kent Conrad was the Senior Senator of North Dakota. He took office as senator on January 3 1987 and is currently serving with Junior Senator John Hoeven. He was the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. He is a member of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party, the North Dakota affiliate of the Democratic Party.
