LSU New Orleans
LSU New Orleans (LSUNO) is a public research university located in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.
It was founded in 1958 as Louisiana State University in New Orleans, a branch campus of Louisiana State University and part of the Louisiana State University System. In 1974, it changed its name to the University of New Orleans (UNO), and kept that name for over 50 years. In 2011, UNO moved from the LSU System to the University of Louisiana System, but returned to the LSU System in July 2026, changing its name to its current form at that time. LSUNO, also a member of the Urban 13 association, is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research spending and doctorate production".
The university's sports teams, nicknamed Privateers, are members of the Southland Conference (SLC). LSUNO is one of only two full SLC members without a football team.
