The Lavanttal- Arena is a football stadium in the Austrian town of Wolfsberg in the federal state ofCarinthia. It is the home ground of Wolfsberger AC.
History
[change | change source]The facility was opened in 1984. After completion of the grandstand, the stadium was opened with the 1988 Olympic qualifying match between Austria and Finland. [2] In 2012 the stadium was expanded. Wolfsberger AC was promoted to the Austrian Bundesliga. A new covered seating stand and a standing terrace in the southeast corner for approximately 1,000 visiting fans were built. The total cost for the expansion to a capacity of 7,300 spectators and other renovations amounted to €2.5 million. [3]
Sports facilities
[change | change source]There is also an athletics track surrounding the playing field. There are two training fields, two small-sided pitches, and facilities for high jump, long jump, shot put. You can also find an all-weather court for volleyball, tennis, handball, and basketball. All facilities are equipped with floodlights.
