Leeuwin, Western Australia

Leeuwin is a small coastal area and rural locality in the South West region of Western Australia. It is located near the town of Augusta and is part of the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River. Cape Leeuwin and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse are located within the locality of Leeuwin, being its southern-most point.[1][2]

Location

Leeuwin is best known for the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, which was built in 1895. The lighthouse helped ships navigate where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The area around Leeuwin has been used for farming and fishing for many years.

Geography

Leeuwin is located at the southwestern tip of Western Australia. It is surrounded by natural bushland, forests, and ocean. The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is situated on a rocky headland overlooking the sea.
