Little Shop of Horrors (musical)

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken, lyrics and book by Howard Ashman. The story is about a flower store worker and his plant that eats blood. The musical is loosely based on the 1960 black comedy The Little Shop of Horrors. The musical was first put on at the Orpheum Theatre off-Broadway on July 27, 1982. It later received a Broadway run and a movie.

A voice, not far from the voice of God, talks about a new, shocking danger to human existence. Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon come on stage and present... the Little Shop of Horrors. They teach the audience to watch out for the future danger ("Little Shop of Horrors").
Act One
We are in Mushnik's Skid Row flower shop. Its owner is Mr. Mushnik, a tired old man. The shop has two workers: Seymour Krelbon and Audrey. Seymour Krelborn is a poor young man with no parents. Audrey is a goodlooking blonde with little education. Things are bad for everyone in Skid Row, but Seymour has a dream to get out ("Downtown [Skid Row]").
