LiveJasmin

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LiveJasmin is a website for live video chat. It shows models on webcams, often with nudity or sexual activity. This can include striptease, erotic talk, use of sex toys, or sexual intercourse.

According to Alexa rankings, it is one of the most visited sex webcam websites in the world. The company’s staff and infrastructure are mainly in Hungary and Luxembourg.[1]

LiveJasmin was started in 2001 by György Gattyán in Hungary.[2][3] At first, it supported studios in Hungary, even when many of them were not legal at that time.[3]

In 2014, LiveJasmin made TV advertisements. Two ads were sent to be shown during the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, but CBS refused to show them.[4]

Business model

[change | change source]

People can join LiveJasmin as customers, webcam models, or studios. Models are paid a part of the money, between 30% and 80%, depending on how much they earn.[3] Most models come from Romania, Ukraine, Russia, the Philippines, South Africa, and Colombia, while most customers are from the United States and Germany. In countries like the Philippines, Colombia, and Eastern Europe, models usually work in studios. The studios give them equipment and manage their work.[3][5]

In some countries, like Uganda, webcam sex work is illegal. In these cases, the risk is taken by the studios and the models themselves.[3][6][7]

The website also received multiple awards including AVN Awards,[8] Venus Awards,[9] XBIZ Awards,[10] Live Cam Awards,[11] and AW Awards.[12]
