Lorestan Province is a province in western Iran. It is mainly populated by and is the traditional homeland of the ethnic Lurs who speak the Luri language. Lorestan Province is located within the Zagros Mountains, in the western part of Iran.
Lorestan is located close to the border with Iraq. Situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by mountains, Lorestan is about 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) east of the border with Iraq.[2]
Some of the important cities are Khorramabad, Borujerd, and Aligudarz.
