Lost River is located at 43°43′18″N 113°32′42″W / 43.72167°N 113.54500°W / 43.72167; -113.54500 (43.721785, -113.544931).[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.70 square miles (22.53 km2). 8.69 square miles (22.51 km2) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.[1]

Its named after the Big Lost River.
