Maciej Giertych

Maciej Marian Giertych (['mat͡ɕej ˈmarjan ˈɡʲɛrtɨx], born March 24, 1936)[1] is a Polish dendrologist and social conservative politician. He is a member of the League of Polish Families (LPR). He was a member of the Sejm between 2001 and 2004 and a Polish member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009.

He was a candidate for President of Poland in the 2005 elections, but withdrew from the race because of low vote results (circa 3%).
