Methine group
A methine group or methine bridge is a functional group =CH−. It consists of a carbon bound by one double bond and 2 single bonds, where one of the single bonds is to a hydrogen.
Chains of methine groups can form conjugated systems in polyenes. Polyacetylene is a polymer made out of methine groups.
