Methylenedioxy

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The methylenedioxy group is a piece of a chemical in organic chemistry. It has a carbon atom connected to two oxygen atoms and two hydrogen atoms.

The group is normally found attached to a benzene aromatic ring, which makes benzodioxole (methylenedioxybenzene) and its derivatives. These derivatives include many medicines, as well as some amphetamine derivatives that are used as illegal recreational drugs.
