Michael Burawoy (15 June 1947 – 3 February 2025) was a British sociologist. His works were about the Marxist social theory. He was best known for public sociology and for writing Manufacturing Consent: Changes in the Labor Process Under Monopoly Capitalism.[9]
Burawoy was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.[10] He was president of the American Sociological Association in 2004. From 2006 to 2010, he was one of the vice-presidents for the Committee of National Associations of the International Sociological Association (ISA).[11]
Burawoy was killed after being hit by a car in Oakland, California on 3 February 2025 at the age of 77.[12]
