Michael Thane Franken (born November 8, 1957) is an American retired United States Navy vice admiral and politician.[1] He was the deputy director of military operations for the United States Africa Command.

Franken was the Democratic nominee for the United States Senate in Iowa's 2022 election.[2] He ran for the Senate in 2018, but lost the nomination to Theresa Greenfield.
