Michael Harner

Michael James Harner (April 27, 1929 – February 3, 2018) was an American anthropologist, educator and author. He founded the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and the New Age practice of "Core Shamanism". His 1980 book, The Way of the Shaman: A Guide to Power and Healing,[1] was important in the development of "Core Shamanism" as a path of personal development for new age adherents of neoshamanism.[2] He was born in Washington, D.C..

Harner died on February 3, 2018 at the age of 88.[3]
